What this site is

Rubbish Hotels publishes first-hand guest accounts of hotel stays, together with satirical commentary, opinion ratings, and practical guidance on recovering money. It also provides tools that draft correspondence for you to send yourself.

User submissions

When you submit an account, you confirm that it describes your own stay, that it is true to the best of your knowledge, and that you have the right to share it. You keep ownership of what you write and grant us a licence to edit, rewrite, publish and promote it. We may decline anything, and we may remove anything at any time.

Submissions are the account of the person who submitted them. We host and comment on them; we do not adopt them as our own assertions of fact. Where we retell a submission in house style, the retelling is commentary and satire built on that person's account.

Opinions, ratings and satire

Bin Ratings are opinions. Rubbish Reports, Wall of Shame entries and The Rubbies are works of commentary and satire. Entries marked PARODY describe entirely fictional establishments; any resemblance to a real business is coincidental. Nothing on this site should be read as a statement of verified fact about any real business.

The Refund Desk and the guides

We provide practical information and draft correspondence. We are not lawyers, we do not provide legal advice, and we are not a claims-management or debt-recovery service. We never contact a hotel, a booking platform, a bank or a regulator on your behalf — you send everything yourself, from your own address, and you are responsible for what you send.

Consumer rights, dispute windows and the correct authority vary by country and by card issuer, and they change. Verify anything time-sensitive with your own issuer or national consumer body before relying on it. We make no promise that any particular approach will recover any particular sum.

Acceptable use

Do not submit content that names or targets individual members of staff, contains other people's personal data, alleges serious crime, is hateful, or was written to damage a business rather than to describe a stay. Do not use the tools to harass anyone or to send threats you cannot carry out.

Complaints and takedown

If you are connected to an establishment described here and believe an entry is inaccurate or should not stand, write to concierge@rubbishhotels.com with the page address and what specifically is wrong. We flag the page for review on receipt and we respond to every serious notice. We would rather correct something than defend it.

Liability

The site is provided as is. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of it, including any outcome of correspondence you choose to send.

Changes

We may update these terms. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated version.
